SAPPADASKIBUS FVG

The day starts early, but without the usual stress of getting ready for a trip to the mountains. At first light, while the towns from Trieste to Udine are still yawning, we board the coach. It is a quiet yet excited journey: no driving stress, no worries about traffic or finding a parking space. You relax, chat a little and watch the landscape slowly change, giving way to the snow-covered rock faces of the Dolomites.

Arrival in the Kingdom of Snow
At around 9:30 the coach pulls into Sappada. The air is crisp and clear, scented with pine and burning wood. From here, everyone follows their own passion:

Piste enthusiasts head for the lifts of Monte Siera and Campetti, ready to enjoy fresh snow and sunshine under a cloudless sky.

Those who love the peace of the woods put on snowshoes and poles and set off with local guides along hushed trails, where the only sound is the crunch of snow underfoot.

Families and the curious split their time between fits of laughter on the sledging runs of Nevelandia and a leisurely stroll through the lanes of Sappada Vecchia, among the traditional wooden hamlets that look as if they have stepped out of a fairy tale.

The Flavours and Calm of the Afternoon
Towards midday the pace slows. People gather in the cosy stube of the mountain huts or in the little restaurants of the village for a heart-warming lunch: steaming dishes from the local food and wine tradition, the aroma of canederli, melted cheese and a good glass of wine to celebrate the day.

In the early afternoon there is still time for one last run, a hot coffee in the sun or simply to breathe in the disarming beauty of a nature that reigns supreme here.

The Journey Home
At 16:15 everyone meets back at the coach, tired but refreshed. The equipment is safely stowed in the luggage hold and comfortable shoes are back on. As the coach sets off on the return journey down towards the plain, some rest while others scroll through the photos they have just taken, bringing home the feeling of having enjoyed an authentic, carefree experience.
